Budget-SPA
Manual

What Budget-SPA does

A planning tool, not a ledger. Type costs, revenue and funding; the curve, the runway and the cash-out date move with you. BAS and moms built in.

Getting started

Opens on a budget picker: blank, a worked example, or a SIE import.

The example is a café. It opens on Budget settings: Bolagsform, aktiebolag or enskild firma, is the first choice. Switch it and watch the cards change.

The picker: example, blank, SIE import, saved budgets.

No account, no sign-up. Your figures stay on your machine — see Your data.

What it shows, and how you move it

Liquidity, across the whole budget period

How much cash you have, month by month, across the whole period. Runway, the cash-out date and the low–high band are read off the curve, and move when a figure does.

Sliders are the quick simulation

Drag a slider for an answer rather than a number — the curve redraws under your hand. Sliders move fast: click one, then use the arrow keys, a notch per press. Type exact figures when you have them.

Alt is the shortcut, in every view

Hold Alt and click: on a row or cell it opens the card behind it, on the surface around them it swaps view — as does a right-click.

The four views

Same budget, four levels of detail. Switch from the dropdown in the top bar.

View What it is Reach for it when
Huvudbok General ledger, income statement and balance sheet, per BAS account Your accountant asks, or you want account-level detail
Budgetmall One sheet, twelve month columns, no settings before the first number You came from a spreadsheet template
SPA Cards above a live chart, one per line Day-to-day budgeting. The default
Nano A field of bubbles you drag, scrub and group Thinking in proportions rather than rows
The view menu on a right-click.

Huvudbok

Three tabs — Huvudbok, Resultaträkning, Balansräkning — one block per BAS account, with opening and closing balances. Dagbok lists lines in date order.

A strip under the year stepper narrows to one month, or back to Hela perioden. Empty months are dimmed.

Huvudbok: account by account.

Budgetmall

Categories down the side, twelve months across. The first month fills the year; a later one changes only that month. Under the grid: the month the money runs out.

Budgetmall, with the cash-out month under it.

SPA

The default. Every line is a card — amount, BAS account, item count — and the chart stays pinned as you scroll.

A Gruppera switch rolls every card into Kostnader, Intäkter and Uttag.

The slider on a group card drives that group's projection line only; hand-typed items stay put.

SPA: chart pinned above the cards.

Nano

Every line as a bubble, sized by amount. Drag, scroll to scrub a figure, group, dock. Hold Alt and the bubble under the pointer reads out its exact amount.

Nano: proportions, not rows. Alt reads the figure back.

Cards: how a budget is built

One line of your budget. Type Kontorshyra -- 12000 into the box at the bottom of the SPA view; the app picks the BAS account, the moms rate and the category.

What each card holds

  • Amount, with a low–expected–high band
  • BAS account, guessed from the name, editable
  • Moms — 25, 12, 6 and 0 %
  • Recurrence — monthly or one-time
  • Start and end dates, to the day
  • Paid from — bank, cash box or credit card
  • Growth, for a line that climbs
A card open: band, account, moms, dates, payment.

Groups

A card can hold several items — rent, electricity and cleaning inside Lokalkostnader. The group shows the total.

Kontering

Every line can show the verifikat it would produce — debit, credit, moms. Open a card, press Kontering. Derived, editable, and it flags what does not balance.

A budget, not bookkeeping. Kontering shows how a line would be booked. Nothing posts to your ledger.

Kontering behind a budget line.

The chart

The cash curve across the plan, with its low–high band. It redraws as you type:

  • Opening and end-of-plan balance
  • A cash-out marker on the month the money runs out
  • Momstopp ticks where a VAT settlement falls due
  • Optional arbetsgivaravgift and skatt på resultat ticks
  • Your real cash line from an imported SIE file
  • A draggable Idag marker

Scroll to zoom, drag to pan; switch to pie, bar, table or monthly breakdown.

The curve, its band, the cash-out month.

Scenarios

Type a what-if — Nyanställd -- -45000 R recurring, Bidrag -- 200000 one-off. It becomes a pill you switch on and off; the budget underneath is untouched.

The question the app exists for: if I hire in March, when do I run out?

A what-if switched on: the curve moves.

Swedish accounting, built in

The rules are in the engine, not a Swedish skin on a general tool.

  • BAS accounts throughout, guessed for every line
  • Moms per line, settled on your reporting period and drawn as a cliff on the curve
  • Arbetsgivaravgifter and semesterlöneskuld on salaries, at the right rates and times
  • Bolagsskatt for aktiebolag, egenavgifter and kommunalskatt for enskild firma
  • Kontantmetod or fakturametod
  • Fiscal years off the calendar, a first year up to eighteen months
  • Ej avdragsgilla kostnader added back before tax
  • Utdelning with a check against free equity

Two company forms. Switch and the budget is re-stated, not re-labelled: the owner’s salary becomes egna uttag, share capital an egen insättning.

Reports

The Huvudbok view carries three reports:

  • Huvudbok — every line per account, with opening and closing balances
  • Resultaträkning — revenue and costs by account, accrual basis
  • Balansräkning — assets, liabilities and equity at a chosen month end

Scope any of them to a month or the whole period. Tax needs a whole fiscal year — a one-month Resultaträkning stops at Rörelseresultat.

The two reports, from the same figures.

SIE import & export

Importing your real figures

Every Swedish accounting program exports SIE. Drop one in: Budget-SPA reads your closing balances and draws your actual cash curve beside the forecast.

It can build a whole budget from an import: accounts become cards, and the forecast starts where your bookkeeping stops.

A file that carries nothing is refused. No booked balances, no import.

What was read: accounts, period, company.

Exporting to your accountant

Export as SIE type 2 for your byrå: forecast per account per month, plus booked balances when the budget follows an imported year.

A line with no BAS account is left out, not filed under a made-up one; the export says how much.

Your data

Everything stays on your machine. The database is a folder you can back up.

  • Säkerhetskopia (.json) — the whole budget in one file, imports included. It restores exactly, and it is how you hand a budget on
  • Till bokföring (.se) — the SIE export above, for your accountant
  • Several budgets side by side, switched from the top bar
  • A storage view listing every budget and import, so you can delete what you do not want
Several budgets, swapped from the top bar.
Lokal lagring, from the top bar.

The app is free, no timer. It saves locally with a licence — nothing is lost when you close a licensed app. The licence (introductory 199 kr) - normally 399 kr incl. VAT saves it in your own local database. The version you buy is yours forever: fixes within it are free, and a new major version — 0.2 to 0.3 — is 99 kr. The one you already have keeps working.
